What they are
The couple’s bond, over time, under the influence of numerous factors, changes and transforms. These factors can be related to stressful life events, changes linked to different phases of the life cycle, or may concern factors internal to the couple, perhaps related to changes in the individual that then result in a situation of discomfort involving the couple.
The crisis in the couple arises when the push for change can no longer be assimilated into the continuous process of negotiating the objectives and goals that characterize the bonds.
Relationship or Couple Difficulties
When this happens, partners can no longer recognize themselves in the premises and values of the couple’s pact, thus losing security, stability, and trust in each other and in the bond itself.
At the moment of crisis onset, whether due to communication problems or a traumatic event such as infidelity, the risk is to exacerbate misunderstandings and conflicts, in an escalation of suffering through dysfunctional communication and interaction patterns. Each partner risks focusing on the other’s faults; ending up exhausting each other with discussions and arguments that repeat the same script, with the feeling of endless mutual misunderstanding and with the sole result of a progressive and irreparable distancing.
