What it involves
At the corporate level, the effects of distress (negative stress) can manifest as absenteeism (sick leave), staff turnover, reduced motivation, decreased attention and concentration, with a higher likelihood of making mistakes, decision-making issues, diminished problem-solving abilities, communication and relational problems with colleagues, managers, and collaborators, resulting in a deterioration of performance and efficiency at the organizational level.
To address these difficulties, an innovative approach is necessary to recognize and overcome mental obstacles, leading to the liberation of productive, relational, and creative resources. This involves using an innovative methodology, based on the idea that well-being in the company is also achieved through individual well-being.
In this sense, Dialektikè’s intervention proposals stem from the integration of the psychological-clinical approach (from Klinikè, the art of leaning towards, taking care of, paying attention to the discomfort or difficulty of the person) with the more typically organizational approach.
The interventions are aimed at improving people’s quality of life and increasing their efficiency by transforming discomfort into a resource, specifically through:
- Identifying and overcoming psychological obstacles to good personal functioning;
- Taking care of and enhancing what works (to care), rather than “curing” what doesn’t work (to heal);
- Acquiring behavioral strategies that promote the individual’s “well-being” and their potential “ecological functioning”.
How It Works
Group meetings are conducted by two expert professionals. The explanations from the facilitators and group simulations promote the acquisition of specific skills, such as: awareness, emotional regulation skills, stress tolerance, and interpersonal abilities.
Subsequently, through the assignment of “homework,” the acquired skills are enhanced and generalized within the work context as well.
Target
Groups of about 10 people can be formed, which, depending on the emerging organizational needs, can involve different company levels: from top management to middle management, down to more operational levels. The groups, built ad hoc, can be homogeneous by level or heterogeneous, depending on the various company issues.
Benefits for the Company and the Individual
The advantage for the company and the individual is given by:
- The reduction of obstacles and waste of energy and time that are used to cope with stress;
- The resulting possibility of making available and enhancing the skills and competencies that people already possess, but are unable to exploit to the fullest, precisely when they are most needed.
Expected Results
- Greater autonomy and taking responsibility;
- Increased sense of self-efficacy;
- Increased attention and clarity;
- Greater ability to negotiate potential stress factors (shifts and work hours), resulting in fewer complaints or absences due to illness;
- Improved interpersonal and communication skills;
- Increased creativity and problem-solving strategies (problem surfing);
- Less dependence/passivity.
